All four (4) stations are combined in a sole operation configuration and thus are a single employment unit.

 

Responsibilities of Management/Enforcement/Dissemination of EEO Policies

John Leonard, General Manager of KGGF-KUSN, has overall responsibility of hiring and of enforcing all EEO policies and to continually review our employment unit’s performance and adherence to the Commission’s EEO rules.

All current employees have been advised of our stations’ EEO policies and have received a written copy of same. Future employees will be advised of our EEO policies during the interview process. Employees have been encouraged to advise their immediate supervisor of any complaints they may have of prejudice or discrimination in the workplace.

 

Analysis of EEO Recruitment Programs/ Effectiveness/Pay/Benefit/Promotion and Selection Techniques

 

KGGF-KUSN, constantly analyzes its EEO Recruitment Program and to its effectiveness and outreach. Our pay and benefit plans are equitable for each appropriate position, and we attest that KGGF-KUSN, does not discriminate in hiring or promotion on the basis of sex, age, race or nationality. SUPPLEMENTAL OUTREACH INITIATIVES

1st Initiative As part of our supplemental outreach initiative, co-sponsored, organized and participated in the Southeast Kansas Job Fair heldAugust 17, 2011 from 9 am – 4 pm at the Independence Civic Center.

The station employment unit participated in the planning, recruitment of employers to attend and promotion of this event with area co-sponsors including Kansas Works and Independence Chamber of Commerce.

In addition to the above organizations, more than a dozen other area employers had representatives at the job fair.

During this event this employment unit visited with parties interested about careers in the broadcast industry and accepted applications for employment. Station personnel who assisted with this event included John Leonard, General Manager, Anna Bolinger, Shelly Herring and Ki Ki Atkinson, Marketing.

 

2nd Initiative Sponsored the SEK Home and Recreation Show on April 16, 2011 from 9 am – 4 pm at the Youth Activities Center in Coffeyville, KS. During this event we had a booth with applications available to the public and opportunities and careers in broadcasting with this employment unit were discussed.

Station personnel participating in this event included John Leonard, General Manager, Sales Reps Anna Bolinger, Shelly Herring, Ki Ki Atkinson and Programming

Personnel Ron Curran, Lance Allred and Karen Goss.

3rd Initiative Participated in a joint internship with Coffeyville Community College. Brian Melese participated in this program from January 18, 2011 through April 21, 2011. This student-intern received hands-on training and experience in commercial copy writing and production as well as basic programming skills and on-air operations. His internship was four hours per week at the radio stations during the semester. The General Manager, John Leonard provided critique of this intern’s progress and participation to the head of the broadcasting Department at Coffeyville Community College, Billy Durham. This student-intern received academic credit for his participation.

 

Activities to fulfill: Plan to continue our intern partnership with Coffeyville Community College. Our contact at the college is Billy Durham, Chair of the Broadcast Communications Department. Through this partnership, students enrolled in the broadcast department receive hands-on, practical training in such areas as commercial copy writing and production alongside various program elements. Student interns spend an average of four (4) hours per week at our Coffeyville facility and are evaluated periodically by General Manager John Leonard and department personnel pertaining to the broadcast aspect. Copies of the written evaluation are forwarded to Mr. Durham for the intern’s file in order to receive course credit for participation within this program.

 

Planning to sponsor the SEK Home and Recreation Show. During this event, we will man a booth by key employees of our stations to talk to those interested about careers in broadcasting, particularly with KGGF-KUSN. Employment applications will be available and accepted throughout this event. The show is scheduled for April 28, 2012 from 9am – 4pm at the Independence Civic Center.

This employment unit planning to again partner with the Kansas Works Program to sponsor a career fair. The RRG-Kansas Works Career Fair is tentatively scheduled for August 15, 2012 at the Independence Civic Center. Numerous employers from around the area will be invited to participate. During this event members of the public will be able to visit with KGGF-KUSN representatives regarding career opportunities within the broadcast industry and complete applications for future employment.
